NWIC Coast Salish Institute

The Coast Salish Institute’s purpose is to preserve and relay the Coast Salish culture’s traditional values in language, arts, crafts, dance and theatre. The vertical cedar planks that clad the building were sand blasted to reveal the grain as hand split planks might have looked years ago. The gabled ends will feature traditional house paintings. Tall, thick log columns stand proudly near the doorways on the interior and exterior.
