Bellingham Sewer Replacement Project
The 2014 Sewer Main Replacement Program project consists of replacing manholes and restoring sanitary sewer lines and side sewer connections. Approximately 7,300 lineal feet of existing sewer mains are being replaced through trenchless, open-cut, and cured-in-place methods. The trenchless method allows for efficient pipe rehabilitation while minimizing disruptive surface work, but requires specialized installation equipment and materials. The sewer replacement program is also working toward eliminating stormwater from entering the sanitary sewer system. Faber is working on multiple short sections at a time to help cut down on traffic congestion and lengthy lane closures.
