Small Beginnings

Having witnessed and experienced bad safety habits and empty client relationships with past employers, Rick Faber wanted to create a construction company that placed the wellbeing of employees first and focused on the future of clients businesses. He believed in looking at the big picture of a client’s business, how to prevent a business from becoming bottlenecked because of bad design choices and bad locations. In 1987 alongside wife Debbie, Rick founded Faber Construction Corporation. They humbly began by building barns.

Faber Construction’s first big purchase was an International Forklift. Instead of going up and down ladders all day, slowing down progress and increasing fall risks, the forklift was used alongside scaffolding to ensure safety and speed up the construction. Faber still has this old dilapidated forklift as a reminder of what we started with and how far we’ve come.

Continuous Growth

Our family owned company grew to become one of the major pre-engineered steel building contractors in Whatcom County, performing and erecting over 80% of all metal industrial and commercial buildings in the Northwest Washington area.

In the last decade Faber has grown in volume of projects delivered as well as project type, scope of work and the level of quality. Over time we began self-performing our site and earthwork needs, which lead to the development of our earthwork division in 2007 and we expanded from private to public work. We have completed parks, roads, water, and sewer projects in cities and counties all over western Washington. Our hard working, qualified team has earned high recognition from many county and public works directors for their outstanding work and accomplishments.

Throughout the years we’ve been contracted to build many beautiful custom homes for our clients. In 2011 this expanding division became West Coast Homes, focusing on custom homes and building the occasional spec home.

We are now a full service commercial, industrial, residential and civil construction company. Our aim on every project is to deliver the highest value possible in service, professionalism, quality, materials and final product. As a diverse construction company we can control your risk better through our in house services and great partnerships.

We value transparency in every area of our business. From estimating to billing, you can build with peace of mind.
